Interdistrict Transfer Requests Information

1. Start Date for Interdistrict Transfer Requests

The school district will begin accepting and processing interdistrict transfer requests for the upcoming school year on January 15, 2024. Please ensure all requests are submitted by March 31, 2024 to be considered for the subsequent school year.

2. Reasons for Approval or Denial

Interdistrict transfer requests may be approved or denied based on the following reasons:

• Reasons for Approval: The student requires specialized education programs offered only at the requested school; The student has siblings currently enrolled in the requested district; A parent or guardian is employed within the requested district.

• Reasons for Denial: Overcrowding at the requested school or grade level; Insufficient documentation supporting the request; The student has a history of poor attendance, behavior issues, or low academic performance.

Required Documents:

The following documents must be submitted as supporting evidence:

• Proof of employment within the requested district (e.g., employer letter or pay stub);
• Documentation from a healthcare provider for medical needs;
• Current report cards and attendance records from the student’s current school.

3. Appeal Process

If your interdistrict transfer request is denied, you may appeal the decision within the district:

• Step 1: Submit a formal appeal within 10 calendar days of receiving the denial letter, including any supporting documents.

• Step 2: The appeal will be reviewed, and a final decision will be communicated within 15 calendar days of receiving the appeal.

4. Abandonment of Request

5. Processing Timelines

The school district adheres to the following timelines for processing requests:

• Example: If submitted on February 1, 2024, you will receive a decision by March 2, 2024.

• Future Year Requests: The district will notify parents of the final decision no later than 14 calendar days after the start of the school year.

• Example: If the school year starts on August 15, 2024, the decision will be communicated by August 29, 2024.

6. Revocation or Rescission of Interdistrict Transfer Permits

An interdistrict transfer permit may be revoked or rescinded under the following conditions:

• Reasons for Revocation: Excessive absences or tardiness; Serious behavioral issues; False information provided during the application process.

• Example: A student receiving multiple suspensions for misconduct may have their permit rescinded after review by the principal and district administrators.
